We came from Houston and wereparched for the serenity this Cabin has to offer.
What was supposed to be a girls weekend for my wife and her friends turned into a mini family vacation due to some cancelled plans. But she'll have to come back with them.
And we'll have to return with her parents. This place will make for a good retreat with family and friends.
Sincerly, Team O'Donnell

The world has been challenged with a series of impacts that has kept us indoors, tensions high and heavily disconnected from friends and family.
This visit was a break from all of that - both physically and mentally. And what a fantastic break it was!
Your wonderful home was an amazing recharge for the soul and boosted our spirits.
Every comforting detail about our visit was tended to in the thoughtful service of our host, the amenities of the home and by nature itself.
Thank you. This was needed. We can't wait to come back!

We had a great visit. Especially after being on a stay-at-home order for 6 weeks! What an adventure!
We loved the animals and all of the beauty of your ranch. It was such a pleasure meeting you.
We found so many treasures to put in our garden at home in Willis, Texas.
Mandy P.
Thank you for opening your home during this pandemic so we could get away and just enjoy God's beauty.
We will be praying for you and your husband for blessings and good health.
March 21-23, 2020
Thanks for providing this great getaway for Keaton's 8th birthday.
The boys loved "rock hunting" in the creek and playing around the cabin despite the questionable weather.
We hope everyone stays safe during Covid-19 distancing. We are leaving our TP/PT and hand sanitizer to help out.
Our best find of the visit? Bones? It's a little morbid, I guess but maybe the boys will persue vetrinary medicine as a result. :)
Thanks again,
The Strain Family of San Antonio.
March 16-20, 2020
We enjoyed our return visit to Lindsay Ranch(our 3rd. or 4th. time here)!
Kids loved exploring once again and we enjoyed the additions of the sheep and llama (who we lovingly named Rachael).
We had planned some time ago to come here for spring break, but it proved to be the perfect way to "socially distance" ourselves in the time of Covid-19.
Peace was bountiful, and a good time was had by all!

3/14/20 - 3/16/20
What a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
We so enjoyed the quiet. Lots of digging and hunting - we found an arrowhead and at least one piece of topaz, not to mention all the other beautiful rocks.
The animals came to visit several times - the lambs were precious and Oreo posed for a picture.
Your ranch is beautiful.
We'll be back. :)
Bret and Cynthia B.
March 8-11, 2020
Accomodations were inviting, clean and spacious.
Between the outside spaces and the adequate cabin size, we felt like we had plent of space.
The decor is cute and welcoming.
We cooked several meals in the cabin and had no problem using the pans and dishes provided.
The kids loved the swing and hammock and had tons of fun playing outside.
The firepit was a bonus, so toasted marshmallows each night were an easy treat to fix.
Dee provided us with great and interesting information about the property and "digging" opportunities.
The privacy and safety provided by the gated property was an added bonus.
We are glad we picked the Lindsay Ranch for our mini-cation during Spring Break 2020.

Such a beautiful slice of heaven you have. My wife and I had such an amazing time for our 4 year anniversary.
Thenk you for everything. We will most definitely be coming back.

P.S. If you hear something hitting the side of the Cabin, It's OK. It's a red bird hitting the mirror on the porch, over and over again.
Very entertaining. LOL!
April 18, 2019
I only discovered the Lindsay Ranch in April of last year and this is my 4th. visit. It is in the top 5 "most amazing placed" I've ever been.
The opportunities to stay in one of two guest houses on 1,000 acres, and basically have the run of the place, is just not an option in the course of routine daily life.
The Lindsay Ranch is a place of never ending adventures in nature, history, geology, rock-ology, paleontology, Tex-ology, star and moon gazing and the list goes on ...
This has been a wonderful trip. And for the adventurous, take a drive on James River Road.
Thanks Dee & Clay,
Fondly,
Mary Martha Hall,
Clifton, TX.

Beautiful property!

September 13-17
We love this place.
The children were so excited with all the pretty rocks. They had fun digging in the creek. It is like a big sand box.
The accommodations had everything we needed.
We appreciate that there were plenty of chairs available and beds.
The weather was perfect, nice and cool and raining at times, so we could sit on the porch and relax.
We used the grill and also built a fire in the fire pit.
We also appreciated the opportunity to worship together with Mrs. Deloris on the Lord's Day.
Thank you for making this stay so memorable and comfortable for our family.
Art, Anne, Asher, Ayu, Isabel, Ethan and Andrew Sisneros
(I was very impressed with your family. Loved having you here. Come again soon. Deloris Lindsay)
September 13-17
This is my favorit topaz digging place. (Of course this is the only cone I have been to.)
I DEFINITELY want to come again. Love it! Next time I probably will stay longer. Maybe next time it won't rain as much.
I hope next time I will find something bigger than Big Jack (the big rock on the porch) or maybe I will find the Stargate (TV Show).
I hope next time I will have 2 sandies instead of one.
Asher found a topaz he calls, "Toby". It is small. I love this cabin. I love the creek.
LOVED the banana bread and I really love the games.

September 11-13, 2017
Such a great time we had in your Cabin by Comanche Creek!
We may not have succeeded in finding topaz but it's the hunt, or as they say, the journey, and the making of memories that makes it all worth while!
Can't think of a better place to celebrate my 65th. birthday! And, hopefully we can come back again some day.
Elizabeth King
August 13-15, 2017 ... Love it here!
The Lindsay Ranch is even more beautiful than we remembered from our earlier visit this year!
Our 2-night stay during February didn't feel long enough and neither has this time.
Although it was not as much about the topaz, Indian artifacts and variety of rocks this time as it was to just visit and explore your beautiful, peaceful property.
We are returning home agin with a bounty of pretty specimens! It was great to be greeted by the longhorns again and enjoyed their company and hearing them around us while star-gazing ... even saw a few meteors in the brilliant sky!
Wayne and I appreciatew your hospitality and thoughtful touches in the Cabin; very helpful to have everything we needed at hand and topped off with your amazing, home-made, banana bread ... thank you.
Oh, Almost forgot to mention we saw new wildlife this time: a roadrunner and a snake (not sure what kind) that's part of what is so nice about returning; it's the same slice of heaven as last time, but no two visits are alike.
Thank you again for sharing your beautiful property with us and making us feel so welcome; we are looking forward to returning again!
With much appreciation and thankfulness,
Sandra M. and Wayne T.

We had an amazing time at the Lindsay Ranch!
A few highlights: Sitting in the creek bed and the longhorns walking RIGHT up to us!
Seeing deer, a bunny, roadrunners and turkeys, all in one drive to the Mountain, coming back at dusk!
The kids were amazed!
We even saw the milky way both times with no moon to be seen or clouds. We couldn't believe it!
Found lots of rocks and pre-form Indian artifacts, especially on the mountain.
The banana bread was a real treat and had my son asking for more!
The Cabin had everything we needed. Thank you for sharing your ranch!

Mr. & Mrs. Lindsay,
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful ranch with us.
We had an amazing time exploring your land, taking photos and hunting for Topaz.
We did not find any topaz but we did find some Indian artifacts and geo's up on Mason Mountain.
Thank you for all the little touches inside the Cabin including the milk, raisin bread and steak seasoning.
We had a lovely time cooking hamburgers on your grill, although we felt a little guilty eating them when all of your longhorms decided to come into the creek bed just as we sat down to get our grub on.
This weekend was very peaceful and relaxing from watching the hummingbirds to cooking s'mores over the fire pit.
We take home with us many memories and aboutr 100 pounds of pretty rocks. :)
We did get a visit from some deer, the longhorms, a rabbit, some frogs and two scorpions (in the bathroom).
We will definitely be back and also will spread the word about this place.
Thank you,
The Keilhotz Family Waxahachie, TX(Thank you for your kind words. So happy that you enjoyed your stay and knew how to take care of the critters that decided to come up the shower drain. :)

Mr. & Mrs. Lindsay,
Thank you so much for allowing us to experience your ranch.
It was a wonderful break from our everyday hustle and bustle. The Cabin was so much more than we expected. It was well stocked with more than we needed.
We found several treasures to take home as well.
May God bless you and your family!
Tony, Marka and Charlie B. Lubbock, TX.
May 26-28, 2017
Clay and Deloris Lindsay We had a great time during our stay. My daughter, Marka, son-in-law, Tony & grandson Charlie have had this trip planned for a fwew months. I was blessed to be asked to tag along.
My late husband and I owned a place between Lamkin and Gustine, TX. about 16 years ago so this was a welcomed retreat for me.
The atmosphere here, the birds singing, the squirrels scurring around, the longhorn cattle stopping by to visit each evening took me back in time to our small ranch.
I had forgotten the early morning peacefulness as we sat on the porch swing listening to and watching nature.
I also enjoyed my kiddos and grandson experiencing "firsts". There are so many memories that were made that I will forever remember and cherish.
The look on my grandson's face, when he saw his first tree frog or squirrel muching sunflower seeds underneath the bird feeder of the hummingbirds swarming their feeders of sweet nectar. These were special moments I was able to spend with my family.
As we treked and scoured the creek beds searching for our pieces of topaz, I thought of 1800's gold miners as they panned for their treasures.
Each time one of us found various types of quartz, "fool's gold", granite, petrified wood and bones and various arrowheads, spears or hand tools made by the Native Indians, possibly the Comanche tribe, we were overjoyed.
We made so many great memories during our stay here. So thank y'all Deloris and Clay for the wondereful experience you shared with us.
God Bless Y'all.
Denise B. Lubboc, Texas.
May 16-19, 2017

It was a real treat for our whole family to spend quality time together in God's beautiful creation looking at his treasures in all directions!

The patio a peaceful haven! We appreciated the many personal, thoughtful touches you have made to the place!
Thank you for sharing your property with the public and allowing to to traipse and hunt to our hearts content!
You are a special lady and we highly recommend your place.

What a wonderful little Cabin! It has all the necessities and so much more.
The view from the mountain was so beautiful and when paired with your stories of history on this ranch, I could almost sketch it in my mind!
Seeing the Longhorns this morning in the creek was majestic!!
This was our first adventure digging for topaz, amazing stones & gems to find!
Took a stop for lunch at Cooper's BBQ and Willow Creek Cafe, that we would highly recommend!
Hummingbirds were very entertaining along with the titmouse and the "stick catepillar" on the sliding door!
Looking forward to our next trip! Thank you so much!
Rebecca & Justin, Clyde, Texas.
P.S. The air conditioner works wonderful!

Hello Lindsay Family!
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! It was an enjoyable stay!
Stopped in town yesterday after lunch and had a wonderful visit with Tessa (Country Collectables) and she says hello.
I picked some wonderful quartz! I did find 2 single turminated quartz crystals, one the length of my pinky finger and another about 1/2" in length!
Awesome finds.
I bnought a jar of your sweet & sour pickles - they were very good!
Thank you so much! Maybe I'll find topaz the next time we visit.
Sincerely, Valerie & Jake

On arriving at the Lindsay Ranch we were greeted by the longhorns and bluebonnets.
This cabin is so comfortable and well stocked you could stay for a month! Hailey (8) loved her comfy bed. Conner (6) said his favorite was swinging in the hammock and stoking the nightly camp fires.
We spent a day looking for topaz and came as close as we could with quartz.
Deloris we enjoyed visiting with you and learning the history of this ranch.

Absolutely loved it here!!! What an amazing place ... it's perfect!
We were looking for a relaxing stay and to try our luck(first-timers) at rock hunting.
The Cabin exceeded our expectations and we were very appreciative of Deloris' thoughtful touches of cereal, milk, toiletries, fully stocked kitchen, suppplies, comfy accommodations and the best shower pressure ever!
The location was perfect and the starry night was dazzling!!
We enjoyed the hunt and found several interesting rocks that we will be taking home with us. We are sure that every time we look at them it will remind us of the slice of heaven you have with your beautiful property.
We also appreciated hearing about the Lindsay family history and the story of the property; it enhanced our stay.
The only regret we have is not having booked our stay for a longer period of time.
We will definitely be returning and I'm already looking forward to watching your longhorns graze and accompany us on our next rock hunt!

We had a wonderful stay. Lots of porch time watching the birds; hummingbirds, buntings, cardinals, doves and other species. Many, many frogs in the creek.
One evening we enjoyed watching 3 young raccoons come up from the creek to investigate around the fireplace area before moving on further up the creek making an attempt at catching frogs.
We especially enjoyed the late evening visits of the bats. Noticed deer tracks on the drive but never saw them.
We may or may not have topaz in our possession but we found some wonderful rocks and have had a grand time. Thank you so much for sharing this property with us.

Me, my husband and my 22 year old son stayed at the Comanche Creek Cabin for Mother's Day weekend.
The Cabin was stocked with everything we could need and the new concrete deck was amazing!

Feldspar, granite, mica flint, chert and other cool rocks.
We even found some Indian artifacts on Mason Mountain.
We saw armadillo, racoon, a snake, cows, hummingbirds, a squirrel, lots of lizards, and a coyote one night.

A Rockin’ Good Time
We came to stay, we stayed to play,
and now it’s time to go away.
Our spectacular earth which gave us birth,
has gems galore if you just explore.
A walk, a hike, or something like
a well-dug hole to soothe your soul.
A sky-blue sky and bright sunlight
and feathered friends in eternal flight.
These all are found in air, on ground
and all around, if you come on down
to the Lindsay Ranch near Mason town.
You won’t regret your country trek
to the land of rocks and gems, et cet.
So dig, and scratch, and sift and fetch,
and head for home with your glorious catch.

And don’t forget to bring the rake.

"Ms. Lindsay, as much as we enjoyed the rock hunting, I have to thank you even more for your hospitality!
The Cabin was exactly what we needed after two nights in a tent and the fact that you provided breakfast was just an amazing bonus!
Thank you for everything and I really hope I get to bring my son back there soon as the trip to your ranch helped cement his passion for being a rock hound."

God Bless you and your husbnd. We will return!

"I love it here! I was impressed with how clean everything was and how well stocked it was. Just like being at home.
My cousins had a wonderful time rock hunting.
Virginia got her topaz Saturday but it was the one raffled off in town (during the Old Yeller Days Celebration).
However, she, Mary and Laura kept diligently rock hunting for the rest of our stay.
I don't rock hunt due to a disability but they were excited to tell me about it and show me their finds when they got back.
I think this is indeed a magical place to stay and enjoy.
It would be a great place to teach my grandchildren to live without a TV. I am planning that trip as we speak!
Keep us the awesome hospitality and the opportunity to find our own Texas Topaz."

Deloris,
"Thank you for your hospitality. We loved, loved, the Cabin on Comanche Creek and all the attention to detail, from milk in the fridge to air freshner in the bathroom.
Thank you for the amazing breads, they wre so --- good, can I have the recipe? Just kidding. We called your banana bread "Hunters Bread".
We would also like to thank you for sharing with us your family history.
I loved the family history folder on Franz Kettner Letters. I did not have time to read the book so now I'm gonna have to buy it.
Well, we did not find the elusive topaz but you know, I'm glad we didn't, because that just means that we'll have to come back. :)
Oh! and thank you for the bird feeder outside the kitchen window. It allowed us to photograph the many colorful hummingbirds. They are so beautiful.
May the Lord bless you and your land."
Aurora and Esmerelda Salinas. Mission, TX.
P.S. We left a few things for the next adventurers.

I always will be grateful to y'all for the pleasure of staying here.

Luckly they survived and will surely return with us one day.
Thank you for all the hospitality, Love you,"

They had never used a VCR and they thought that was so cool!
This is my 2nd time to come and I thank you for sharing your guest house with my gransons and husband.
I remember enjoying the summers on my Uncle's farm. Being here brought some fond memories back to me.
My very best to you and yours.

"Exceptionally friendly hospitality from the Lindsay Ranch.
Pam and I had a great un-wind time from everyday life and had on our first night an all night light show with the heat lightning to the north and a nice warm (almost hot) rock hunt next day.
Items found 1 3/4" spear point, several nice chert nodules, several quartz crystals, pegmatite cluster (mica, tourmaline, quartz, small topaz).
The guest house is very comfortable and we hope to come back!"

"We had a wonderful time exploring for Indian artifacts and gems.
It is easy to feel the history of pioneer settlers and the local Indians as you sit on the back porch.
Thank you for allowing us to become a part of this if only for a short time.

"Lindsay Family,
Thank you for opening your doors to us. Our stay at this wonderful cabin was amazing.
We came here as an escape away from the busy and stressful city life and boy did we enjoy it.
This was our first time in the Hill Country and the first time we stayed at a cabin and I must say, it was great.
Y'all made us feel very welcomed and so did the town.
We had lots of fun rock hunting and searching for our own piece of treasure and we found it!
Our search ended before we even started. It ended as soon as we arrived at this hidden gem.
The Southern Hospitality was definately taken to a different level here; the cabin was loaded with very useful things and yummy snacks and we decided to keep the hospitality going by leaving some things as well.
Before arriving here, we tried to search for reviews online and did not find any but we will spread the word about our stay and post pictures to let the world know about your home.
We hope to come soon and repeat our experience and adventure. We can't thank you enough."
Thank you,
Adriana and Aldo ... Katy & Houston, TX.
P.S. The Whole Wheat Raisin Bran Bread was delish!
(I am happy that you enjoyed your stay.
Thank you for your kind words and for the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts ... can't get better than that!

"Like children in a pirate adventure, our excitement started with the search to find the perfect place to stay.
I would say that search was a success!
We found treasure in your stories of the land and your family history. Thank you for sharing! What fun we had!
The treasure we walk away with is in the memories we shared with friends.
Thank you So Much!"

"We have been on cruises to the Yucatan, snow skiing trips to New Mexico and Colorado and have seen the majesty of our great nation from a semi ... but this vacation has been the most memorable of all.
We got to play in the mud while we hunted for our own Mason topaz, we got to sit around on your beautiful deck and visit with our family members while the flash floods raged all around us ... You made this little cabin feel more inviting than any of our homes ... I guess because we're a bunch of women and this is neutral territory for us, but also because of how well you had it stocked, you thought of everything.
The hummingbirds outside the kitchen window was a special show for whoever gets stuck in the kitchen, Oh, and we all loved your bread! Thank you so much! We will be back !!!"

"Hi Deloris!
Thank you so much for the most relaxing 2 days here on Comanche Creek.
Tom and I hunted diligently for topaz, calling her name and making up songs, poems and stories about her.
We listened to our hearts to hear her reply. We thought we heard her say she was ("gurgle, gurgle") underwater. "No way", we said ... "you'll just have to stay there; 'cuz we aren't touching it".
We will pray for rain in the great Texas Hill Country so that the beautiful swimming hole on Comanche Creek will be filled up again.
Loved the fire in the metal campfire thingy each night and the coyotes howling made us douse it and run inside to snuggle in the most comfy sheets.
Thank you for all the necessities of home and for your generous spirit.
Thanks for letting us know about Miss Mouse, Little Spider and Mr. Scorpion. We saw them all - only Miss Mouse survived, alas.
I could go on forever about our adventures here but I know you have a ton of work waiting.
Until we meet again ..." Maggie and Tom.

We were so surprised at all the extras that were provided.
We have lots of quartz to take home to MN and rock hunted unitl we were exhausted.
Hope to come here next year on our way home from the valley.
Thank you so much."

"What a wonderful stay we had at your Cabin on Comanche Creek this past weekend.
We did not realize till everyone arrived that it was actually Sibling Day.
We three sisters had the opportunity to play prospectors and explorers the whole weekend.
Coming in exhausted every time we ventured out and returning to such a welcoming cabin was priceless.
Our main meals were cooked over wood on the fire pit provided and we managed to eat healthy the whole stay.
Thank you so much for sharing the Lindsay Ranch with us."

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Plan to return with one of our grandsons."

After much sun, rocks, and walking we couldn't have imagined a better Spring Break for my 9-year-old grandson.
His 8-year-old cousin was out of his comfort zone but he would come again.
We are looking forward to our next adventure."

"Got right to it! I have no idea if what we collected counts as "treasure" from a lapidary standpoint, but they are treasures to us!
I don't think we have wandered more than 100 feet from the Cabin and we are so completely charmed!
Loved it!
Greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay who immediately made us feel like we were home visiting family and invited us to play a round of dominoes.
